Indeed, we're here! A VERY nice group of fun-loving daylily folks... gardening right here in the scenic Foothills of the Blue Ridge, and taking full advantage of "PERFECT" daylily-growin' countryside! Our meetings are the 2nd Sunday of each month, except in December and January, in the historic district of Rutherfordton, NC. We ALWAYS have fun... and we hope you will join us!!! |
2019 was a wonderful year for the Foothills Daylily Society (FSD). A list of FDS Activities for 2019 were
*March 2019 An excellent presentation on soil conditioning from Hannah Bundy an agent of the NC Cooperative Extension.
*May 2019 Our FDS club sold daylilies at the Mayfest festival in downtown Rutherfordton NC. It's a great way to raise funds and to talk to the public about daylilies.
*June was our FDS Flower Show and plant sale. This year we added several craft vendors. Nancy Womack's entry received the Best of Show award and Nancy Rigsby received the Best Floral arrangement award.
*September was our annual club auction where the club members use their "Daylily Dollars" to buy daylilies, perennials and even some wine. We had a potluck to go with it.
*November was our holiday dinner and gift exchange. We also viewed entries in our club's photo contest. Nancy Womack's photo received the Grand Prize.
